Whats the names of the wolves in game of thrones

At times, the animals became prominent figures to the plot but not all of them made it to the end of Game of Thrones. Here's the detailed fate of each direwolf in Game of Thrones. Grey Wind was very protective of his owner Robb. The direwolf accompanied Robb and his army and played a role in the Battle of Oxcross by sneaking onto the enemy camp, killing guards, and scaring horses.

Unfortunately, Grey Wind was present for the Red Wedding in season 3. Arya tried to set Grey Wind free but it was too late; he was decapitated and had his head planted on Robb's body. Lady was the first of the direwolves to die. When they couldn't find that exact direwolf, Lady was killed it her place. Ned executed Lady at the request of Robert Baratheon, horrifying Sansa. When Cersei's men were searching for Nymeria to punish the direwolf for biting Joffrey, Arya secretly sent her away.

Nymeria wasn't seen again until Game of Thrones season 7 when Arya ran into her while traveling back to Winterfell. The direwolf was revealed to be the leader of her own pack. Arya tried to get her old companion to follow her home, but she understood why the direwolf wanted to stay behind in the Riverlands. Summer constantly stayed by Bran's side after Winterfell was taken over. While there, a horde of White Walkers and wights invade the cave.

Summer tried to protect Bran by fighting off the Night King's forces. The direwolf was killed in the season 6 attack, but she gave Bran enough time to escape. Shaggydog also accompanied Rickon, Bran, and Summer when the group left Winterfell. Rickon, Osha, and the direwolf eventually split to seek refuge through House Umber. Ramsay disgustingly turned the direwolf into a fur rug. Shaggydog marked the second direwolf to be killed in season 6, much to the dismay of viewers.

Grey Wind belongs to the eldest Stark, Robb. Loyalty and duty are the words that come to mind with both Robb and Grey Wind. Robb is still very young and has some trouble holding the respect and loyalty of some of the Stark bannermen called upon to fight.

Lady is just as her name describes, a lady! She is the perfect pet for the lovely Sansa Stark. She is as well-mannered as her owner and is just a beautiful. Her life is quite tragic, also very like her owner. Cersei demands that Lady is killed since Nymeria is nowhere to be found. Both Nymeria and Arya are very brave, not afraid to fight to anyone which becomes evident in an altercation with Joffery. Joffery attacked Arya and her friend, Mycah, at the trident.

This name is appropriate for the wolf of a sweet, summer child. Bran and Summer are extremely loyal to each other. When Bran was attacked on his sick bed, Summer rescued him from his certain death. Summer could sense the imminent danger Bran was in and stopped the would-be murder when Catelyn could not.

This incident also helped Catelyn learn to trust and value the direwolves. This dark haired direwolf matches his owner in his ill-mannered nature. Much like Rickon , Shaggydog is often unruly.

They are also overlooked by most everyone. Contributing to the difficulty is that few wargs even attempt entering the minds of other humans, as this is considered an abomination. The wargs among the wildlings have loosely developed three rules to govern their power: never enter the mind of an animal while it is having sex, never enter the mind of an animal while it is eating human flesh, and never attempt to enter the mind of another human.

These rules are more custom than law, of course, as it is difficult to enforce in the wide wildernesses beyond the Wall. Still, any warg who becomes known for breaking these taboos will subsequently be shunned by all others. Bran Stark originally warged into Hodor's mind in order to escape from Winterfell when it came under attack.

The Reed siblings were first introduced in the second novel when they arrive at Winterfell, but their introduction was pushed back to Season 3, after the fall of Winterfell, due to time constraints. Bran's group was hiding in the crypts beneath Winterfell but Hodor could not remember the way out, so Bran warged into Hodor's mind so he could carry his own inert body to safety. If a warg's human body is killed while controlling the mind of an animal, part of the warg's consciousness will survive inside of it.

Dying wargs, sometimes those who are simply dying of old age, will attempt to temporarily cheat death by entering into this "Second Life" in an animal's mind.

A warg cannot enter the minds of different animals once his original human body is dead: a warg may switch between two different animals, such as an eagle or a wolf, but he would have to return from the eagle to his human body before then entering the wolf's mind.

Thus after the warg's human body dies, his "Second Life" as an animal is final. It is impossible for a warg's consciousness to perpetually cheat death and achieve functional immortality by switching to a new body lifetime after lifetime. Moreover, when a warg enters into a Second Life, after many years outside of their human body their human mind will eventually start to fade, until ultimately nothing but the mind of the beast remains possibly because an animal's body isn't sophisticated enough to sustain a human consciousness over such a long time period; it is unknown if this is possible by warging into human minds, but this is both difficult and abhorred, so there is no record of it ever occurring since.
